Safeguarding
Deva Canoe Club is fully committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of its members, in particular adults at risk as defined by Paddle UK. All members should show respect and understanding for the rights, safety and welfare of others and conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of the club. Deva Canoe Club aims to support safeguarding and wellbeing by:
- Having a designated Safeguarding and Welfare Officer and Deputy Welfare Officer
- The Safeguarding Officer having completed ‘Time to Listen’ training
- Aiming to prevent harm, or act before harm occurs
- Providing an environment where members feel they can speak to Officers about their safeguarding and welfare needs
- Discussing safeguarding concerns with the individual concerned to gain consent where appropriate
- Providing the most appropriate response to the risk presented
- Work in partnership with members, Paddle UK, and emergency services where necessary
- Ensuring accountability and transparency in delivering safeguarding
- Display on site and on our website a safeguarding flow chart for members use about reporting safeguarding concerns, including bullying and whistle blowing
- Club Officers being committed to ensuring any concerns reported are taken seriously, responded to promptly and followed up according to Paddle UK Safeguarding Adults Policy
Deva Canoe Club Committee will review this policy annually.
